How to Make the Most of Your WBENC Certification

Congratulations! You're a part of a group of women entrepreneurs who are committed to your success. WBENC Certification may be a powerful tool for breaking down barriers and uncovering new business prospects. However, as the most successful WBEs will tell you, certification is only the first step.

We strongly encourage you to make use of all opportunities and resources available inside the WBENC network to fully realize the network's many benefits.

Checklist for Certified WBENCs
Follow this checklist of valuable involvement areas to fully leverage your WBENC Certification, whether you are newly certified or just searching for more ways to become involved.

  • ACCESS TO THE WBENC DATABASE:
    Learn how to use WBENCLink2.0 to download your certificate, update your profile so that corporate and government agents can locate you, and search the corporate and WBE databases. Click on "See Your Upcoming Schedule" to find a WBENCLink2.0 training session for new WBEs.
  • USE THE WOMEN-OWNED LOGO AND THE WBENC SEAL:
    Use the WBE Seal and/or the Women-Owned Logo to promote your WBENC certification. In WBENCLink2.0, both are available for download in a variety of file kinds and formats. Download and follow the brand standards as well. Do you have any questions about the WBENC trademark or logos? 
  • IDENTIFY YOUR BUSINESS TARGETS:
    Use WBENC Corporate & Government Members to compile a list of potential consumers. In WBENCLink2.0, you can find contact information for each member's supplier diversity representative. Become a member of the supplier portals for the companies with whom you want to do business.
  • INVOLVEMENT OF THE RPO:
    Participate in your Regional Partner Organization's activities. Subscribe to their email blasts for opportunities, attend regional events, and meet other WBEs and Corporate Members in your area.
  • PARTICIPATE IN EVENTS AND PROGRAMS:
    Discover upcoming WBENC Certification programs and events - from executive education to national pitch competitions, WBENC is here to help you build your business.
  • GET THE LATEST NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS FROM THE WBENC:
    With the email address you used to register in WBENCLink2.0, you are instantly registered to WBENC email blasts about opportunities as a certified WBE. Make sure everyone on your team is up to date by subscribing here.
  • GET THE WORD OUT ABOUT YOUR CONSUMER PRODUCT:
    Get featured in the Women-Owned directory and learn about other opportunities at womenownedlogo.com if you have a consumer product.
  • KEY TO KEEPING YOUR CERTIFICATE ACTIVE:
    Remember to renew your WBENC certification! Set a calendar reminder for 90 days before your expiration date to apply for recertification.

Use the WBE Seal and/or Women-Owned Logo on your marketing materials and packaging to show off your status as a WBENC-Certified WBE. WBENC-Certified WBEs are the only ones who can use these logos.

Please note that the SBA does not have a logo for WBENC certification, but they do urge firms to use text in their marketing materials indicating that they are a WOSB-certified company.

Describe the Changes, Challenges, and Tips of the New WOSB/EDWOSB Certificate Application

Introduction: As on 15 th July, 2020, latest update, the SBA’s portal has started allowing the WOSBs and EDWSOBs to submit the documentations, which are to be verified by SBA. This process has to be done to have WOSB and EDWOSB Certification . Before this stipulated date of 15 th July, 2020, options for certification were either to be “self-certified” or to have SBA approved 3rd party certification business as WOSB or EDWOSB.  So let’s see the changes first: - Changes: There is no more validity of self-certification and will not be accepted as of October 15 th . SBA will not charge any fees and shall formally certify a business for the WOSB/EDWOSB program SBA will accept 3 rd  party certifications only, if that is from an SBA approved 3 rd  party certified.   The https://beta.certify.sba.gov/ - is the latest website of WOSB/EDWOSB certification.
